I used to think that art was one of those hobbies I’d love to take up but couldn’t afford. In reality, I didn’t need a deep pocketbook to own art. Art is an emotional purchase, and there are so many affordable (and absolutely beautiful) options today. If you wake up and love what you see on your walls, then the money was well spent.
I gravitate toward all sorts of art mediums. but my favorite is watercolor. There’s something so fresh about it… I’ve also heard it’s one of the most difficult mediums to master (anyone an artist and would like to comment?).
These three watercolor prints (and lampshade) are from Minted. I’ve ordered my holiday cards from their site for a few years now, and recently learned of their fine art and home decor lines. The concept is consistent with their stationary (an expansive collection of independent artists showcasing their designs), leaving a large selection where you’re sure to find something to suit your taste. They allow lots of size/frame options (and a magnitude of sizes/colors for lampshades), and the prices are very reasonable.
In short, the pieces from Minted feel very personal. When your item(s) arrive in the mail, you receive a special envelope with information on the artist who crafted/designed your piece. It really adds a valuable touch! I love my watercolor pieces and lampshade… they give a really warm feeling to my hallway.
