I am off on another week long work trip tomorrow! I am heading out to Jacksonville, Florida for the week which is where the headquarters is for our parent company. I haven’t ever been out there but I’ve heard it’s a whole campus so should be interesting to see in person.
The dress code for the corporate office is much more professional than my office. I think I’ve said before that we are extremely casual in my office, which I love. Sometimes when I am not in the mood to put myself together I will through on jeans and t-shirt and call it good and no one thinks twice. The funny part is people in my office expect me to be more put together than most people just because I am a blogger, but thankfully it’s a running joke that I just didn’t want to try when those days come around when I don’t go all out.
Dressing for a business setting is sometimes hard for me because I sometimes want to push the envelope more than I should, but will generally hold myself back just to be safe. A rule of thumb for myself is if I have to ask myself if it’s too much or not appropriate, I generally go with no. For example these OTK Stuart Weitzman boots. Though they cover more than if I were to only wear heels with a dress, they still exude a more sexy look than should be seen in the workplace. For that, I try to keep these bad boys in the closet, even in my casual workplace.
When it comes to me having to dress up for a more formal business environment, I tend to go with longer tea length dresses or something that has structure with a fun pattern. My suitcase is packed with dresses, so let’s hope I stay cool enough in them because I was not about to wear a pant suit in 90 degree weather with major humidity.
What do you opt for when dressing for business occasions while still being stylish? I’d love to know!
